COMPASSIONATE MINISTRY: (Building a complete person in Christ - not lacking anything). Training Objective: * For the believer to demonstrate a consistent prayer life by praying daily for a minimum of 10 minutes and confidently participate in group prayer. Message: Assurance Of Answered Prayer: A newly born baby in Christ needs to learn that he can speak directly to his Heavenly Father through Jesus Christ. He can confidently enter Gods presence and talk to Him about everything that affects his life. (Philippians 4:6). He needs to be confident that when he calls to his Heavenly Father, the Father will answer him. He needs to learn that God answers prayers all the time. Sometimes He says, YES; other times, NO, still other times, WAIT. Eloquence of speech is not a condition for answered prayer nor making long prayers characterized by repetitions. We can really experience God in prayer by leading a humble and obedient life. Words of prayer without obedience are useless. The Bible teaches that God takes as much notice of the person who is praying as He does of the words being said. Proverbs 15:8 says that the prayer of the upright pleases Him. James 5:16 says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective. Obedience to the Word of God is the key to answered prayer. In 1 Kings 18:36-37, we see Elijah making a very short prayer which was answered instantly and by fire. Why? Because Elijah was a righteous man. He obeyed God in everything. He did put his trust in God alone. I would like to believe that God reckoned his faith as righteousness, this being the reason why He answered it in the fearful or indescribable manner He did. As we obey God and His Word in everything, righteousness will come from God to us on the basis of our GENUINE faith in Jesus Christ. Furthermore, our prayers are answered with speed and by fire. In John 16:24, Jesus gives us the assurance that He will answers all our prayers. However, there are certain things that we need to note when making our requests to God: * IN WHOSE NAME SHOULD YOU PRAY? You ask in the name of Jesus Christ. He is the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him. ** CHECK YOUR MOTIVES FOR ASKING: James 4:3 says that when you ask you do not receive because you ask with wrong motives. *** ASK IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE WILL OF GOD: Check that as well. (1 John 5:14-15). If you read your Bible consistently, it will be easy for you to know the will of God for a given situation. Or i may put it this way: it will be easy for you to know Gods opinion on the relevant subject matter. Without taking time to read Gods Word, it would be difficult for you to know Gods will.
