Never Man Spake Like This Man John 7:32-46 Not surprisingly, - TopicsExpress

Never Man Spake Like This Man John 7:32-46 Not surprisingly, the people of the world are divided as to who Jesus Christ really is. This was true when He was here 2,000 years ago (v.43) just as it is true today. As they listened to the conflicting arguments of the people who heard Christ speak and who witnessed His miracles, the chief priests and Pharisees rejected the testimony of the prophets. The officers who had been instructed to arrest Jesus were caught in the middle of this conflict. The reason they gave for refusing to obey their orders is extraordinary, for they said, Never man spake like this man (v.46). The affirmation that never man spake like this man bore testimony to the fact that Jesus Christ was more than just a mere man. He was God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim.3:16); He was the Creator of all things (Jn.1:1-3) and is forever the Upholder of all things (Heb.1:1-3). Many in the world today place the words of Christ on the same level as that which has been spoke by the founders of heathen religions. Apostate ecumenical leaders in our current religious scene would likely criticize the declaration by these officers in our text as being too exclusive, too theologically elitist, and too demeaning to other world faiths. Theological liberals look upon the use of superlatives when speaking of Jesus as being condescending triumphalism-something that would cause offense to their heathen partners in dialogue. However, these officers were absolutely correct in their assessment of the Savior, for indeed, never did any man speak like the Lord Jesus Christ-before or since. Let us boldly proclaim Jesus Christ as the one and only Savior and exclusive hope for this sin-cursed world. MHR
