New Bell Schedule for 2014-2015 This year Lamar will operate on an A/B block schedule. Each school day will alternate between A and B schedules. Under normal circumstances with no holidays, each class will meet three times one week and two times one week within a two week period. On a few occasions, such as early release days, we may run a mini 8 period schedule. 7th & 8th grade students take 8 classes. Each class takes place in a two period block. A block has 85 minutes of instructional time. On A days students will go to the 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, and 7/8 blocks. On B days they will go to the 11/12, 13/14, 15/16, & 17/18 blocks. 6th grade students also follow the A/B block. Core classes follow the same format as that for 7th and 8th grade. However for PE and elective classes, students attend these each day for 40 or 45 minutes. For example, if a sixth grader has his electives during the 1/2 and 11/12 blocks he might go to PE on A and B days for the 1 and 11 period and Art on A and B days for the 2 and 12 period. All grades have an advisory period each day from 2 - 2:30.
