New Job Deputy Nursery Manager - 11385 Industry: Education and Training Job Type: Permanent Location: Sevenoaks, England Salary: £18500 - £20000 per annum Deputy Nursery Manager - Sevenoaks - £18-20k Accountabilities *To lead by example in providing a high standard of interaction, care and education to meet the childrens developmental needs on an individual basis. This includes the planning and implementation of suitable learning and play activities. *To support and supervise staff with providing a high standard of interaction, care and education to meet the childrens developmental needs on an individual basis. This includes the planning and implementation of suitable learning and play activities. *Ensure own Key Children have accurate, up to date records of learning and development and to support and supervise staff with the implementation of their own Key Child records. *To undertake all areas of the daily care of children at the Nursery, with particular attention to their safety, health, happiness and wellbeing in accordance with the EYFS and LCL documentation. *To monitor routines and mealtimes across the nursery *Supervise, effectively mentor and provide a good role model for all Nursery Practitioners, Nursery Assistants, Apprentices and students and help new staff fit in with the team. Daily Duties *To work closely with the Manager, assist in the day to day management of the Nursery *To deputise for the Nursery Manager in her absence. *Ensure that Health & Safety policies are fully implemented within the nursery with support from the Health and Safety Coordinator. In particular ensure the required standards of cleanliness and hygiene are achieved, risk assessments are in place. Operational *To promote the nursery to potential customers and current parents. This may include answering the phone, taking messages, carrying our show rounds of the Nursery etc. *Participate in parent evenings, publicity events, childrens outings, conferences and local forums as appropriate *In the Managers absence deploy staff as appropriate to cover welfare requirements, manage staff absence liaising with the Operations Manager as appropriate. *Supporting staff inductions and helping new staff to fit into the nursery, this includes Bank Staff and Students. *To assist the Nursery Manager in supporting staff with the implementation of observation, assessment and planning procedures. *To assist in the training of other personnel in the Day Nursery as appropriate. Essential Criteria and Qualifications needed *At least two years experience of working in an early years setting at a senior level, or have at least two years other suitable experience. *NNEB Diploma, CACHE Level 3, NVQ level 3 or equivalent *The ability to provide good quality advice and support to colleagues regarding the EYFS Curriculum *Knowledge and understanding of the Code of Practice on SEN *A team player with a resilient and flexible approach to adapt to change and deal with emergencies or unforeseen events. *Knowledge and experience of policies and procedures relating to child protection, health & safety, security, equal opportunities and confidentiality. *Excellent communication skills both written and verbal *Approachable manner with a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire practitioners# *Commitment to on-going personal professional development Other Requirements *An understanding of and commitment to equal opportunities *An understanding of Health and Safety regulations *A willingness and flexibility to undertake further relevant training including some evenings and weekend Hours - 8am - 6pm but expected to be at work from 7.45am and likely to finish at 6.15pm
