New Year Prayer from Abedini Family: Psalms 34:8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! I was always afraid of suffering and trials of life. I would often wonder if there would be a trial that would be so overwhelming that I would question God and His Goodness. The opposite has happened over the last few years since Saeed’s imprisonment. I have discovered the Goodness of God. I had to reach such a low point of complete desperation and dependency on God that I was able to discover God in a way that I had never done before. I was able to taste and see that the Lord is Good (Psalms 24:8)! Jesus has become more real to me than ever. He has carried me, strengthened me, given me such peace and joy in the worst storms of my life. Only God can do that. My prayer for this New Year is that we do not allow the trials of life to distance us from God, but that we allow the trials and sufferings to break us and take us to Jesus. Oh that we would taste and see that God is Good! My prayer for those who do not know Christ is that they would discover Him and His Goodness. My prayer for those who do know Christ is to allow suffering to dig deeper into Him and taste of His Goodness instead of questioning it. And of course this time of year, I often remember the sweet times Saeed and I shared as we would look back to the year that had passed and we would share our dreams for the coming year. I miss those times. I miss Saeed. That is the human part of me. But I am thankful that this suffering has brought me into a deeper intimacy with Christ. I am thankful for the Body of Christ and for all of you who are a gift from Jesus cheering me on to stay strong and continue. You are the Hands and Feet of Jesus.
