New York Chronicles.....# 1..... last Friday I flew to the Big Apple. Never been there. Been to DC many times, Philadelphia, etc. but never to NY. Finally. What a trip. This will require several chapters. Reason for the trip - fun. Main reason - BBQ Festival. bigapplebbq.org/ Check it out. 12th Festival. More later..... that was for Sat. Got to NY through Laguardia Airport. Shuttle bus ride to the hotel - Roosevelt - theroosevelthotel1-px.trvlclick/ on 45th St. - not far off 7th Ave., near the Theatre District nyc/maps/broadway.aspx and around the corner from Grand Central Station. Checked in - about 8:30 PM Friday. Hungry. Walked about 3 blocks to the Grand Central Station. Wow - what a grand old building. Still have trains coming and going for all the commuters coming into NY from surrounding areas. Check it out: grandcentralterminal/. Lots of restaurants, shops, etc. Ate at the Oyster Bar and Restaurant. Oldest restaurant in Grand Central. Had 2 orders of fresh oysters on the half shell. Yum....... Ready for some more of that. Look around at the table behind me - there sits a guy in a Texas A&M hat! Fly across the country and the first place I go after getting to the hotel - I find an Aggie! Oh well.
