New for this school year: COMMUNICATION TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS (GRADING SYSTEM) The preferred method for communication with parents is phone, email, or personal contact; however, several of our patrons do not have phones, so written communication is the next best choice. All parent contact should be documented. Contact with parents for positive reasons is always encouraged. Teachers will be required to update the student data base grading system (Harmony) a minimum of every 10 (ten) academic days when school is in session. Teacher absent will have one day extension for each day absent. Teachers who are using project based lessons, term papers, or other assignments that are spread out over time, will need to update in Harmony calendar that there will be an extended time prior to updating grades. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and elementary special teachers will send home progress monitoring sheets home every mid-term or 9 weeks, if Harmony has not corrected the grade book concerns. Exceptions would be those students that are enrolled in independent study courses.
