Live coverage of 26/11 style anti-terror attacks will have to be curbed for a ‘limited duration’ in the interest of national security, Union information and broadcasting (I&B) minister Arun Jaitley said in a speech on Sunday, while urging the media to also show regard for privacy and objectivity. Jaitley said authorities had concluded that the plotters of the 26/11 attacks were able to remotely guide the terrorists by watching the non-stop television coverage of the event. There was evidence to show that live coverage also helped the terrorists get information on rescue missions and what was being done to take them dowN.
