New report out with alarming information on increase in developmental disorders among new births in Ireland. They reported that the incidence of Neural tube defects including spina bifida is increasing in Ireland. It is acknowledged that Ireland has the highest incidence of Spina Bifida in the developed world. We also have the one of the highest exposures to fluoride from drinking fluoridated water and tea. A study published in 1995 reported that increased exposure to fluoride resulted in a 4 fold increase in risk of developing spina bifida. Ref: Gupta SK, Gupta RC, Seth AK, et al. 1995.
