Neil Cameron from The Chronicle writes: There is a suggestion that Newcastle are interested in Christian Benteke and Aston Villa would be willing to talk. The Magpies are on the lookout for a senior striker – having agreed a fee with Monaco for Emmanuel Riviere. Benteke struggled to impose himself at Villa Park last season – and it is believed that a deal could be done at the right price. The 23-year-old is currently out with a ruptured Achilles tendon – and missed Belgium’s World Cup campaign. The right price in this case is unlikely to be agreed upon. Villa value the frontman at £18m to £26m. Newcastle are likely to pay £12 million maximum.
