News broke last week that a Koch brothers-funded group is under investigation in North Carolina for attempting to steal the election. There are three things I need you to know. I just came back from North Carolina and I can tell you this is real. CREDO SuperPAC organizers and volunteers have even run into Koch-funded campaign workers spreading misinformation on voting in African-American neighborhoods. We’re the only “Save the Senate” campaign with volunteers and organizers on the ground going door-to-door counteracting voter suppression with a targeted progressive base turnout campaign. This is an urgent moment to fight back. Please chip in now: Here’s what is happening on the ground: The complaint filed with the North Carolina Board of Elections accuses rightwing activists of attempting “to utilize misleading, incorrect, and confusing voter registration mailers as a means of discouraging or intimidating voters in the 2014 general election.” Right now, CREDO SuperPAC organizers and volunteers are combating the Kochs efforts to suppress the vote by literally going door-to-door to make sure Koch-targeted voters know how to cast ballots that count on Election Day. The Senate race in North Carolina is one of the closest races in the country and could determine who controls Senate. So there are actually two ways you can help: Will you connect progressives you know in North Carolina with our local CREDO SuperPAC volunteer headquarters? Click here for a list of North Carolina events to share. Can you chip in $3 to help fund our grassroots organizers to counter these Koch activists on the ground in one of the most important Senate races this cycle? I went door-to-door with CREDO SuperPAC volunteers in Durham last week. Our message about Republican extremist Thom Tillis is resonating. When we tell voters that Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis defunded his state’s public schools, closed women’s health clinics and lifted the ban on fracking, they are fired up to go vote against him. But the problem is that a lot of these voters didn’t know what was at stake in this election until our conversation on their door step. Up to 40% of the voters who turned out to elect President Obama won’t vote in 2014 unless we mobilize them to turn out and vote against Republicans. If the Koch brothers campaign workers get to these voters before we do, they may suppress their votes and steal this election. We can’t let them steal it. We’re going head-to-head with Koch-funded activists. Can you chip in? Our North Carolina SuperPAC organizers have witnessed these shady activities on the ground in African-American neighborhoods and subsequently reported these voter suppression activities to their local Board of Elections. But it will take more than a complaint to local officials to counteract the Koch brothers’ underhanded efforts. That’s why we’re going door-to-door and helping local North Carolina volunteers make tens of thousands of phone calls each week to their fellow voters to make sure they know their rights. We can’t let the Koch brothers’ voter suppression efforts be the difference that costs us North Carolina or any other Senate seat. And CREDO SuperPAC is one of the few progressive groups on the ground in North Carolina doing hand-to-hand combat with these Koch-funded, rightwing voter suppressors. I know our organizers in North Carolina, working with our dedicated volunteers, can counteract this rightwing assault on voting rights. I’ve seen them in action. But they need your help. Chip in to help our grassroots campaign fight back in the final weeks: Thanks for all you do.
