News release August 15, 2014 As long as impunity continues: Army face lift will not wash AFP’s bloody trail even the arrest of Palparan Party-list group Anakpawis today refutes the statement of Pres. Aquino that the Armed Forces of the Philippines had a face lift away from the its previous butcher image. “Even as Aquino uses the arrest of the fugitive Jovito Palparan, the AFP will not dissuade from committing crimes against civilians and political activist critical to the government because it continues to implement the Oplan Bayanihan, the Aquino administration’s anti-insurgency campaign” said Anakpawis party-list representative Fernando Hicap Hicap, an official of the left-leaning fisher folk group Pambansang Lakas ng Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas was forced to leave from his hometown along with his family in Castilla, Sorsogon due to military vilification and harassment “Clearly the Aquino administration is using Palparan to come clean on its own human rights record.
