Nixie had a big week. Their first live demo! Nixie took off with a gesture from Nixie founder Christoph, took a photo, and returned -- capturing the moment with co-founder Jelena and the CEO of Intel Brian Krzanich. It was the Keynote presentation of the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, and we were thrilled to be on stage. Click below to see Nixies first live demo! Nixie co-founders Christoph and Jelena took a Nixie photo with Intel CEO Brian Krzanich in the Keynote presentation at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. After several months of intense development, it was great to show what Nixie can do: a quick flick to come off the wrist, a gesture to tell it where to fly, and then a fun photo capturing the moment with no remote control whatsoever. Team Nixie spent the rest of CES on the show floor, and received lots of attention from both industry professionals and press. We got great insight as to what folks want to know about Nixie, so we thought wed share the answers to the top questions with you. How does Nixie come back to you? No remote control needed! Nixie simply flies in the direction that you gesture and takes photo or video of you from that spot. Nixie then comes right back like a boomerang. How good is the camera? Nixie will use a state-of-the-art smart phone camera. How long does the battery last? The battery will last for about 50 boomerang flights, enough for a full day of typical use. How much does it cost? We dont have an exact price yet. We estimate it will be slightly more than a GoPro camera. When will it be available? This was the #1 question we received at CES, and the answer is as soon as possible. We dont know have a date yet, but well email you when pre-orders are available. In the meantime, were working on improving image quality and refining the shape to make Nixie smaller and more beautiful. We are hiring for key positions as we grow.
