No Witch-hunt When UPND Takes Over – Hichilema Unlike President Michael Sata who assumed office and set up a barrage of Commission of Inquiry that have yielded nothing but wastage of meagre national resources, opposition United Party for National Development leader Hakainde Hichilema has promised to chart a new course. President Sata set up several Commission of Inquiry to investigate alleged abuse of resources by the MMD including another on the Barotseland Agreement but has acted on none. Final reports of the many Commission of Inquiry are gathering dust at State House as the Head of States continues ‘yapping’ incoherent statements at swearing in ceremonies. Widely viewed as witch-hunt and an attempt to demonise fourth Republican president Rupiah Banda, the Commission of Inquiry have predictably failed to provide any tangible results and justify their signifance. This is why Hichilema has promised to take a different route saying UPND will not embark on a witch hunt when it takes over government in 2016. Hichilema says his party will focus on developing the country rather than pursing political opponents. He assured that political parties and Zambians will be allowed to enjoy their democratic freedoms under his reign. Freedoms of association and freedom of expression, which are inalienable rights enshrined in the constitution, are currently heavily restricted. The UPND leader was however quick to point out that anyone found wanting will not be allowed to go scot free. zambiareports/2014/04/27/witch-hunt-upnd-takes-hichilema/
