No camera is as amazing as the human eye. On the top of a mountain in Esteli, Nicaragua tonight, a mile from the nearest electric light, I witnessed one of the most amazing transitions from light to dark. While the red moon was remarkable, even more remarkable was the number and clarity of the stars visible when the light from the moon was completely obscured. It made me think of Carl Safens quote: The total number of stars in the Universe is larger than all the grains of sand of all the beaches of the planet Earth. Also, for the first I can remember since I was a child, I saw thousands of lightning bugs...I mean thousands, surrounding us in the fields and pastures of Estanzuela. Amazing.
