No ceasefire without justice Powerful statement from Palestinian civil society on the conditions of a ceasefire. Read carefully. 1) They state what the United Nations, journalists, and most importantly, Palestinians on the ground in Gaza have already been saying: With temporary shelters full and the indiscriminate Israeli shelling, there is literally no place that is safe in Gaza. Not to mention that even the temporary shelters (UN facilities) are being bombed. 2) Ponder the reality of the vile, morally repugnant conditions being imposed on Palestinians: a) be killed by Israeli bombing, b) be killed in a living death, gradual starvation, blockade, siege, and stripped of dignity. I hope all people of conscience want to see an end to the unbearable assault on human life undertaken by Israelis in Gaza. What the Palestinians are telling us, in the most unambiguous way possible is simply this: Life without dignity, life without freedom, is no life at all. May everyone be free, may everyone be liberated. May we liberate ourselves from the tyranny in our own hearts. May every tyranny and oppression be exiled from the human community. May every life mingle with dignity and freedom.
