And what better way to reinforce this important safe digging message than at the Tournament of Roses Parade where countless people either attend the parade or watch this time-honored televised event before kickoff of the Rose Bowl Game. Canan Aker, senior administrative assistant for Black Hills Energy in Lawrence, Kan. stood proudly in front of the safe digging float at the famed Tournament of Roses Parade on January 1 in Pasadena, California. Canan grew up in San Diego, and returned to California over the holidays with her husband and children to visit relatives and attend the Rose Parade festivities.
