No winners, plenty losers in FKF-KPL war. Not many people are - TopicsExpress

No winners, plenty losers in FKF-KPL war. Not many people are aware of the phrase “The law of conservation of misery.” It is better known as Murphys Law: Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. This is the situation we have in Kenyan Football. The last seven days have been the closest to Fahrenheit 451, which is 233 Celsius. The heat between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) fat cats is enough to burn any paper, boil water twice over, and leave your clothes well pressed till the next but one national holiday in Kenya. Lets skip back to August 7 2014. AFC Leopards are meant to play SoNy Sugar in Nakuru. The Awendo side decide its their home game and show up at the Awendo Green while Ingwe show up at Afraha. The madness continues as to who should be awarded the match or as to where the match should be played with just a week plus to the end of the season. And the clubs involved are overworking their pancreatic juices trying to justify their cause. October 24 2014. FKF boss Sam Nyamweya sends a missive to Jack Oguda of KPL telling him that the matter of Tusker vs Muhoroni is about the integrity of the sport and should be handled by judicial bodies. In the process there is confusion as to whether Tusker have 48 points or 45 points or 46.5 points. This was purely a case of Law Number 3. Eventually the match goes to Muhoroni and the appeal channels now look closed for Tusker. Then Machakos happened on October 26 2014. Vandals take over. They blame the cops for poor crowd management. So what are the cops meant to do? Hold a capacity building workshop with people throwing objects into the field of play and “stewards” who are stewing David Okello in the Sofapaka goal? Fines totalling 0.8 million are handed out. October 30 2014. KPL sends out a missive to the fourth estate saying the Executive Committee has had enough of FKF meddling with the running of the league. 31 October will decide which way the league goes. And add that match venues for November 1 are yet still in dispute. This sloppy soap opera serves no one no good. The best support that FKF can give KPL is to back them on their decisions. The power play points at control of the KPL. The biggest losers will be clubs. I will not analyse the clubs having seen some of their demands to the “Jenga Game” initiative. That #FootballKE has turned into a no-holds-barred mixed martial arts contest is sore to all, except the “stakeholders” who are about to burn each other at these stakes. The rascality exhibited serves #FootballKE cobras venom in small doses that numb organs one after another. KPL and FKF exist because there is football in the country. The two bodies exist to manage football. The swashbuckling does the exact opposite. For a league that thrives on TV Broadcast rights, SuperSport does not intend to air Danger Mouse vs Cool McCool in HD. SuperSport will not hesitate to move to Rwanda and Uganda if we cant shape up. But from the salvoes, the baby and the bath water are a problem, or the babys nanny is using an abrasive rather than a bath cloth. Either way, our bird is flame grilled.
