Nobody ever talks about their failures. As parents, we love to post pictures and status updates about how beautiful, well- mannered, and productive our children are. Posting the real shit is admitting our failures. Never pretty. I have three children. They are 5, 21, and 23. (Gulp) So were clear, it is utter bullshit that we have more patience for children the older we are when we conceive. I have the same tolerance (or lack there of) for the five yr old as I did for her predecessors. I cuss too much around her (them), I dont tolerate whining very well. Disrespect toward themselves and anyone else in their presence could, and has warranted the verbal and sometimes, otherwise, lashing of a lifetime. The list goes on people. I most often do what I expect they have the sense NOT to do. Why? Because I taught them so. Do as I say, not as I do. My arrogance. My guilt as a mother. I feel I will never get it right sometimes. But know, my sweet babies, that Im doing the best I can. I always have.
