Normally as summer creeps up, my private teaching practice dwindles to a slow crawl. This summer is busier than Ive ever been (so far) and Im ecstatic because the more I teach the more I SEE how much I love what I do, how much I have to say about the voice and my approach to music. Yesterday I spent the day re-vamping the curriculum for the upcoming 4-day Jazz Vocal Summit Ill run towards the end of the summer, incorporating all Ive learned this year from running workshops and my study to understand how we as vocalists can integrate theoretical knowledge in an organic way when we sing. I think Im on to something, maybe a book in my future. I feel so grateful to have a say, a gift Im honored to receive when someone lets me in to assist in where they need to go.
