Northern Illinois will probably escape the brunt of the severe - TopicsExpress

Northern Illinois will probably escape the brunt of the severe weather Saturday. Not the case just to our south. Peoria, Champaign, Bloomington, Springfield, Effingham, maybe Watseka and Kankakee too. Early day storms will impact much of the area and clear the area by noon. New storms form along and south of a frontal boundary stationed near the US 24 corridor or thereabouts. Here a complex of severe storms is likely to form and drift east southeast bringing heavy rain, hail, and [significant?] wind gusts. Again as of now this is a Southern Northern Illinois threat. Those near the WI border or from Chicago west to the Quad Cities shouldnt be impacted. If the front doesnt sag as far south as thought then we can introduce the threat further north, but right now those from Galesburg to Kankakee and south should pay attention to my updates as well as the updates sure to follow from the National Weather Service and other media sources. Not looking like a big tornado threat, just a damaging wind and heavy rain threat starting in the afternoon Saturday.
