Not been getting as much writing done on Impervious as Id wish, but Ive done a little. Heres some: “Janet? Dan here.” “Oh, hi. How’s it going?” “Oh, fine, nothing exciting. But, look – I just saw an ad for a get-together in San Francisco for some S/M group that calls itself The Society of Janus.” “An S/M group? Really?” I was trying to imagine what an S/M group actually did. Orgies? I couldn’t really think of any other reason why kinky people would need a group. “Yeah, and they’re having a social on Super Bowl Sunday. Do you want to drive in together for it?” I loathe football and my calendar was completely empty that day. “Sure, why not?” “We’ll tell everybody when we get there that we’re not there as a couple,” he stipulated. Given the tepid temperature of our coffee date, I saw his point: perhaps there would be other people there to whom one or the other of us was attracted, and we didn’t want our cruising abilities hampered by incorrect assumptions. “Sure.”
