Not our first Pei but he was our very first rescue Pei. In 2009, we decided to have a rescued Pei join our family. I saw pictures of this 4 year old, terribly emaciated Pei, cowering in the corner of a Calgary SPCA room, shutting down completely. A call to TnT Sharpei Rescue and we were soon on our way. Once there, we sat in the room and before long he was comfortable going up to Warren to lick his hand. There was no doubt that he was coming home with us. We dont know what he went through in his early years but it was not good. He was a gentle and loving dog but he remained extremely head shy, though if you let him come to you then slowly, softly started to pet him, he loved it and let you know by licking your hand. If you startled him or reached down too fast, he was instantly defensive and 6 months after he came home, he gave me my very first dog bite followed by 10 days of I.V. antibiotics. He lived for Warren and was happiest when out walking with his Dad or snuggled up against him. I would do for a pet or a snuggle when W. wasnt around but as soon as he got home, Tyson was right by his side. We had to say goodbye you today but eventually well see you and the rest of the gang at The Bridge. Love you, T! ❤️❤️❤️
