Not too long ago, a friend from childhood (I knew from ages 7 thru 18), and I, were re-acquainted for a few years, via fb. We would text back and forth, and over time I realized that my friend had changed religious viewpoints and beliefs. I wanted to share this with others: believers in Christ, as well as unbelievers, in the hope that some will be convinced that our work for the Lord is SERIOUS & IMPORTANT, especially to Him, and as an appeal to the unbeliever to please, seek Jesus, with all your heart, before it is too late! You see, 4 months after my childhood friend, unfriended me on fb, got cancer. I was totally unaware of the news, and died 8 months later. I found out from a mutual friend. I do hope my friend called upon the name of the Lord, b4 that final breath was taken. ME: Sorry, I dont watch mainstream media. I dont understand why you are offended. I dont know why anyone gets mad. I have to do what I feel the Lord is telling me to do and take a stand for him. I see a lot of stuff online, and a lot of it is not biblical. I dont Bible thump. I try to live for Christ. Sorry if you are offended. And have the need to un-friend me. You are not the only one to do it. But I cannot in my conscience and feel good about it, take the stance of the mainstream media after reading all the Bible prophecies, and no, that was not my comment, I was sharing someone elses point of view and I like to share interesting stuff I see with others. I didnt know it would be a means of judging me for my opinions. I thought this was America; I guess we lost that somewhere. FRIEND: The thing is that you are silent for a week then post 10 items that are just forwards. And usually it is spiritual stuff, ok, nice for you but I was only interested in things about you. Then all of a sudden you started posting so many of those things that were inaccurate. The problem with those Christian right sites and stations is that they publish half truths and lies. They are often so ridiculous that it makes those of you who believe them sound like buffoons. And there is no way for you to know how off they are if you bury you head in the sand. I made an educated and thoughtful decision many years ago that to be a Christian was to commit intellectual suicide so I had to stop. I can find more justifications for this than you could ever find to support Christianity and you all eventually resort toI feel it in my heart. Well, I found truer peace in my heart be facing up to my own personal responsibility in life rather than asking for help in all things. I read about both sides of the political issues and can make a responsible choice when it is time to vote. I come from a medical caregivers point of view and the conservative rights ideas scare me to death. You talk about your right as an American to have an opinion but you have no basis for what you are spewing over Facebook other than a limited few sources. You have no idea how foolish you sound! And I know every word of how you will justify closing your ears and mind to me, I studied Christian appologetics! You all are sounding more like certain other religious groups and are creating your own jihad...I challenge you to listen to PBS news which is the most intellegent and even-handed news source I have seen. Until then, I would be happy to know about you and you life and family but cant tolerate your brainless propaganda anymore. That is not what Facebook is for. ME: It saddens me to read your response. In the entire message, God was left out. He needs no defense and He does not need anyone to sell Him. Youve made your choice to not follow Him-that is the sad part. I remember one day you asked God to give you the pain (our high school friend) was experiencing when he was sick, so he wouldnt have to bear it alone. That was about the most selfless act Id ever heard of from anyone back then. It stuck with me (stayed in my memory) to this day. I do know that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who do not believe. It is also a rock of offense-I Peter 2:8. And I know that to follow Christ, you are all the way in or all the way out. You say you found truer peace in your heart by facing up to your own personal responsibility in life rather than asking for help in all things, but the fact is that THERE IS NO TRUE PEACE OUTSIDE OF CHRIST-John 3:21) The focal point is Christ; relationship with Christ first. Thats the beginning in my life. I had to stop running at some point in my own life. And thats when I stopped striving with God & let Him take over. I love Him Hes my best friend, & Hes with me always. I dont wanna live life for myself, choosing for myself, or making plans for myself-in my experiences when He chooses for me, life is way more exciting. I do not want to live a boring life, & I am not satisfied unless He is in charge & right in the middle of what I am doing. Nothing is more satisfying to me, than living my life for Him. God created knowledge and wisdom and without both, one is unable to make an educated, informed, responsible decision. I use the Word (Bible) first as a reference point, for how I take a stand, or feel, or believe on any issue. I try not to measure life by what is in my heart nor emotions cause the heart is deceitfully wicked above all else (Jer 17:9), as God reveals, so Im certainly not going to trust my heart. Also Jesus wouldnt trust man, because He knew what was in man. Right now I see a lot of negative activity, strife & hostility going on in our Country. I see a lot of people being stirred up and against each other. I am watching. And I am learning too, and I am sharing what I see with others. I am called to “share the Good News” with others, and thats what I do. I want to be His servant, and I want to be well-pleasing to Him. I also study apologetics. Actually Ravi Zacharias will be speaking here in town, next week, and I hope to go see him talk. So you can see how exciting Scripture and prophecy and end times events are to me right now? Although a little scary, cause frankly its spinning so fast that one cannot get a good pic of what is going on. We can only assume and sometimes I understand that there is a little too much DRAMA in the Alex Jones, Glen Beck, and others, many others, fb posts, but some of them are quite interesting to me. And I share them with others. Some are in live chats with me and we learn the bible and current events together, and some are in my church, cr, & tres dias groups. Some posts I just put up to share Jesus, cause Hes called me to share Him & cause Im not ashamed of Him. We like to share all of this stuff. I guess when I started digging into this stuff I wanted to share, with everyone, so I made it “public” cause even though some will take offense, some are also searching and are open to what I put up, and they LIKE it. Ive only had two people so far, voice their distaste of what I post: you and another person. All the rest like to talk or pray about it. God amazes me, and I love this time we are living in, to be able to see the things of the Bible unfold. Im sorry you have chosen to walk away from Christ. Ive been praying for you for a couple days now. You have been on my heart. I hope you rethink your position with Him. He loves you, with an everlasting love. Hes very REAL, and Hes interested in you. The Holy Spirit is the only one to show you that. Im praying that He does that quite soon. Charles Stanley at InTouch says, “The trap for unbelievers—and, sadly, for many believers as well—is that they fail to recognize the Lord is the only one who can do something about man’s sinful condition. Most of us look pretty good in our own eyes because, using others as a standard for comparison, we can always find someone whose lifestyle or misdeeds makes us look better. But when held up against God’s perfect holiness, every one of us is lacking. The Savior died for the sins of mankind and rose again so that each person who was unclean could be holy, as God is holy. The disciple John explained how sin is washed away from the believer: “The blood of Jesus [God’s] Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). Good works mean nothing unless they are the result of a clean spirit. We can have personal holiness only by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ and His gift FRIEND: Yep, I told you, I know all that plus I know even more about why it does not make sense. I could refute everything you said but I know you would not read it or open your mind to it. Also I RESPECT your right to believe it. I expect you to respect me enough to stop thinking that those same tired arguments are going to suddenly inspire me to start thinking like a simpleton now that I am free from that I am educated. That is exactly how I view Christianity now! I think it is like an ant telling fellow ants what humans wants. That is how far removed humans are from the mind of God. It is presumptuous and ridiculous for someone to say God says ......... Again, dont bother quoting what you have been taught to answer about that, I already know it and dont want to bother quoting it myself. I dont often bother with an Exchange like this but Im so tired of having to flip past all the garbage from those websites. Again, I am interested in you, would love to hear a well thought out position from you based on a look at both sides of an issue from several unbiased sources. I listened to campaign speeches from both sides in the presidential campaigns and found that Obamas made more sense. That is why he won the presidency!!! Ill bet that is a new concept for you!!! There is so much more out here that you should know about, Kim. Your Christian Right is hurting so many people, and all in the name of God. So, no thanks.
