(Note: I know weve seen variations on this theme before. But I like them, Im often surprised to discover one thing or another about my friends as I read them. Besides, I need the distraction right now ; > ) So thanks Ari Sherman... Oh, and so heres how this one works: If you Like this, Ill give you a number and then you share that number of things people may or may not know about you.) I was given a 7, so heres 7 things you may or may not know about me: 1. Not including being in the Army (which really wasnt a job, it was an adventure. Or so the ad said anyway), starting at age 7 Ive only had 4 1/2 legitimate jobs in my entire life: 1. Dock worker putting fishing boats in the water., 2. Movie usher/ticket taker., 3., Security Consultant (which was at once legitimate and borderline criminal)., 4. Teacher/House Builder/Maker of Training Films mostly for a big international fruit company and the WHO., and 5. Writer/Director of films nobody wants to see. 2. Visitor to all fifty states and 17 different countries. Ive also called 19 of those states and 11 of those countries home at some point in time or other. 3. At one point in my life I almost became a real live religious monk. The irony of that statement is this: I swear like a drunken sailor and I may be a pervert. 4. Im devoid of a sense of humor. 5. At various points in my life Ive owned (and read each of them cover to cover) in excess of 12,000 books at one time, lost them (fire) and (theft), rebuilt the collection and lost it. Again. On a slow rebuild this time around. 6. My fervent wish is to have thousands of people come to my funeral and lament my passing. 7. At age 10, fresh off of listening to the Beach Boys singing Surfing USA on the radio and with the vague hope of meeting Gidget, I set off to hitch-hike from the East Coast to the wilds of Malibu to surf. I got busted in Arkansas and sent home... But I did eventually make it to Malibu to surf (a bunch of times) and it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I did not meet Gidget.
