Nothing has changed but the years…..From the day Amistad berthed her cargo on the banks of the Americas to the emancipation of the negroes to the marches and riots of the sixties and the all to pervasive police brutality of this millennium, nothing have changed but the years….The noose and whip have been replaced by the pistol and a badge and even though some of us acquired that archetypal 40 acres and a mule and even if some of us became millionaires or billionaires it took an unfortunate visit by Oprah Winfrey to a store in Switzerland to make evident, albeit the strides we have made, that we are still Nigger to some……Until the day we can cumulate the Respect we deserve, we will continue to be treated like the first pair of shackled feet that ever left the Amistad.
