Nothing like having horses to keep you grounded! After a great start to the RC champs with Ladys best ever dressage our celebrations were short lived! It was nice to be ahead of the game for once going into XC but luck just wasnt on our side. Lady coped with the Road & Tracks and Steeplechase fantastically and recovered very quickly in the vets 10 minute box. (Glad she was fit enough!) As we headed over to the XC start box the heavens opened and thunder and lightening struck, I managed to hide under the trees for 2 minutes hoping they would put a hold on the course only to find they wouldnt for XC but did for SJ! It was the scariest round Ive ever had XC with the terrain proving even more difficult in the conditions for Lady. I could barely hold her together with my reins slipping through my fingers. We picked up 20 pen at the fence in the water after a big jump in I just couldnt hold onto the reins. We managed to finish the round but came back without a front shoe which would of explained lots of slipping! Totally gutted as was just in our reach for a top 3 position going into Show Jumping, decided to W/D Show jumping as felt always another day and we will continue to bang away at each phase and hope it all comes together for us on the same day.
