Notice is hereby given that the Charles County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing to obtain input on the draft 2013 Charles County Comprehensive Plan on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 7:00 pm in the County Commissioners Meeting Room located in the Charles County Government Building, 200 Baltimore Street, La Plata, MD. Draft 2013 Charles County Comprehensive Plan The purpose of the Comprehensive Plan is to direct and manage the future development of Charles County. Per the Land Use Article of the Annotated Code of Maryland, the County is required to update its Comprehensive Plan at least once every ten years. Once adopted, the 2013 Plan will replace the 2006 Comprehensive Plan. Citizens wishing to make oral or written comments are encouraged to attend the hearing. Those individuals or representatives of groups wishing to speak must sign in. Speaker sign-up will begin 90 minutes (1 and 1/2 hours, or at 5:30 pm) prior to the hearing and will end at the commencement of the hearing. Each speaker will be allotted three (3) minutes. Individuals representing organizations will have five (5) minutes. Written comments may be submitted in lieu of oral testimony, or to expand upon oral testimony, to the Department representative listed in this notice. The County Commissioners reserve the right to extend the time frame allotted for the hearing.
