Nov 7... I am thankful for the opportunity that I have had working in long term care, better known as a nursing home. I have been blessed to work at two wonderful facilities, the first Bethany Health and Rehab Center in Tennessee and the second Barfield Health Care here in Alabama. So many people think nursing homes are sad places where people just go to die. People who think this have never spent anytime in a nursing home. While it is true people do die in nursing homes they live there first. The employees take gentle care of the residents and their needs but thats not all we do. We genuinely have a love for these people that we care for. The residents become like another family to us. Some are there just for a short time for rehab and get to go back home to live and while we are happy for them we truly do miss them when they go home and are a little sad to see them go. Some are there for years and they come to love us as much as we love them. Everyday when it gets close to time for me to leave work at least one and usually more residents will have asked if I will be there tomorrow. There are lots of hugs there. I see them happen everyday. We see life through the eyes of the elderly and we adapt things for their abilities trying very hard to give quality and purpose to the lives they live. There is so much life, love and laughter in both facilities that I have had the privilege to work and I am blessed beyond measure to have these people, the residents and all my coworkers in my life. I am very grateful, very thankful that The Lord lead my path to the nursing home 💚❤️💙💜
