November 8th., 2013 Friday The “Fried Egg” Journal “Quenching the Infinite Thirst of Curiosity” Encyclopedia Americana (Long out of Publications: 1960’s ?) ‘What do you want for Christmas?’ I’m hating being the “Coal Mine” again, this Christmas, with all the Grand Children in my Family, running around, and there being only 2 Social Security Cycles for me, actually, for all of us Seniors: but something I was told over the telephone, has me more concerned. I have Friends, Former Employers, really, in their 70’s, near 80’s, tell me that their Retirement(s), 401K’s so forth, have all taken a “Fatal Hit” (his words), and that this ‘Obamacare’, the Increases from that, it’s not going to Help them, at all, right here at Christmas. Last Summer, I was wondering about this lack of any freight, or farm shipping, my Trade of nearly 50 years, and, Informed of Christmas Shipping’s Ending, over two weeks ago, I’ve been told with Store Manager’s: only the UPS, Fed Ex, and USPS shipping statistics, are all that’s left to Gauge the economic futures, of Trucking. Must have Freight, to Buy New Equipment. I must Note to those not caring, not exclusive to the Public Media, why, I dont know, the E.P.A., has written very tight Regulations on Diesel Engines, Effective in 2014, but 80% of those engines, are in Class ’A’ Commercial Tractors, and nearly every one of the attempts at engineering emission controls, have failed, because the maintenance of those systems, is costly, not to mention the Mechanics that have to have the Trainings. Those Engines, each, would cost as much as a Lexus Coupe. “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas, anymore.”
