November is around the corner, as we all know its particularly pertinent this year. The reason I included this song on our latest album is to very definitely take sides in the great debate about the First World War. At the heart of that debate is a question. Was it all worth it? Its been raging all year, Dan Snow, Jeremy Paxman, Michael Gove all coming to the conclusion it was a *just* war, every young mans life was not in vain. It needed to be done. For me this song takes a diametrically opposite view to them. When I was a kid the red poppy meant commemorating the fallen in the Great War, nowadays its been widened and blurred to include all wars involved the army.
