Now in Tokyo. A mad house, as anyone who has been will know. Anyhow, having managed to stay up very late a couple of nights while staying at a tiny fishermans cottage in Rausu Hokkaido, got some great views of Blakistons Fish Owls. Food seems to have been a major player so far. Everywhere has involved being stuffed with excellent fodder. Far too much to bore you with. However, I will mention Kushiro Fish markets. Bewildering array of fresh fish. Grab a bowl of rice and wander around picking up bits of whatever looks good. And purely in the interests of scientific research I tried whale sashimi. Not sure what sort of whale. Bit like strong, meaty tuna.
