Now that Im living in red state territory during campaign season, the typical democrat ads are fairly positive, with a few obligatory attack ads thrown in there. As for the Republican candidates, almost all of them say something like, dont vote for such-and-such because they will vote in favor of Barack Obamas agenda. I hear Barack Obamas agenda at least 5 times in every commercial. I forget who the Republican candidate is because they rarely say their own name in the commercial, but they say their opponents name and Obamas name quite often. The only message this gets across is to their base. They will not win over any middle voters and if a person likes Obama, then youve just convinced them to vote for the opponent in your own ad.
