Now that Paul Thomas Anderson s Inherent Vice Trailer is out and obliviously its kickass and mind blasting, I decided to watch his first film. Just to see was he THIS good (as he is now) back then, when he started? So, I watched his Hard Eight which was written and directed by him. Im not going to say much because honestly I dont have exact words to describe how I felt when I saw this understated, calm and brilliant film. I now know if Anderson started off with a film like this which is not just directed by him but has also written it, Im now assured how he went on to make films like Boogie Nights Magnolia There Will Be Blood The Master and now Inherent Vice which looks equally promising and thrilling!!! Anderson is that great rarity in modern film making, an actors director. He gathers terrific actors and inspires them to career-topping performances. Guys, have a go with this amazing crime drama. This film is an absolute treat right from the opening scene, a true hidden gem which didnt even get a release in the UK!!! You will see some of the finest performances in film and be warned you will remember these characters for the rest of your life. 10/10 Awesome!
