Now this really was an odd coincidence. So Im out walking, listening to the AudioBook of Terry Pratchetts The Colour of Magic, but I kept getting distracted by thinking about bugs in the network code Im writing, which consists of having to rewind events to the point where a change happened and then replay them back to the present with this newly including data. Just then, Pratchett launched into the section where the falling Rincewind suddenly finds himself in an alternate universe on-board a TWA jet, and then describes how this universe has to quickly rewind to a time when it can accommodate the sudden arrival of a few quadrillion extra atoms, and then play forwards again to the present with the newly included Rincewind and Two Flower. Bizarre - this is a precise analogue of what my code is having to do; the code which kept bashing into my brain and stopping me from concentrating on the novel. I fixed the bug during the walk by the way.
