Nowshera acid attack cracked Police nabs 2 culprits Making an important breakthrough police arrested two persons involved in the dastardly act of throwing acid on a girl student. This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Kashmir A G Mir in a press conference in Srinagar today. Giving details of the case IGP said that as has been reported earlier that on the morning of 11th December 2014, at around 10:30hrs, an acid attack case was reported from Nowshera area of Soura Police Station. An FIR no. 136/14 of Police Station Soura u/s 326A was registered immediately and investigation was set into motion. IGP said that keeping the sensitivity in view a Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Rayees M Bhat (IPS) Superintendent of Police Hazratbal was constituted and as many as nine teams were made functional to trace out the culprits. On the basis of investigations, one suspect viz. Irshad Ahmad Wani @ Sunny son of Mohammad Amin resident of Wazir Bagh was apprehended who seems to have been stalking the victim and her movements. He was detained and his sustained interrogation led to the arrest of another suspect Mohammad Omar Noor son of Noor Mohammad resident of Bemina. IGP further said that Irshad @ Sunny who has turned out to be the mastermind in planning this crime had been stalking the victim for quite some time and following her movements closely. His advances being spurned, left him in a vengeful huff. He roped in his friend and business partner Omar to be party to the crime who was both sympathetic as well lured by promised financial gains. Both had been friends and jointly ran a shop of spare parts and service for which the major acting partner Irshad @ Sunny used to get stock from the open market. Sunny obtained 40 litres of distilled water as well as 2 litres of concentrated Sulphuric Acid from a shop in Batamaloo on 4th of December. IGP added that he then carefully planned every step of the gruesome attack. He himself and along with Omar recceed the spot of incident beforehand at least 7 different times to plan the attack down to the minutest detail. IGP further added that on the fateful day, Omar carried out this horrendous attack almost to perfection. He borrowed the vehicle of his uncle who knew nothing of his evil intent. He left home in the vehicle at around 0915hrs on 11.12.14 and after carrying out his dastardly attack returned home at around 1130hrs. His right hand was also burnt in the incident of acid throwing while trying to make a quick getaway. On the way back he threw away the beaker with which he had thrown the acid near Achan landfill site and had his hand bandaged. Irshad visited Omar later the same day and cooked up a story to his family that he and the vehicle had been involved in an accident.
