Nurses under the auspices of Graduate Nurses Association of Nigeria (GNAN), protested today the 5th of September, 2014 in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State Capital. GNAN which is the Association of Nurses with first degree (B.Sc or B.NSc) in Nursing had on Wednesday, the 3th of September, 2014 issued a Press Statement where it dissociated itself from the threat of industrial action issued to the Federal Government by the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) and described the threat as empty and irresponsible. GNAN which also directed its State Executive Committees to lead a peaceful protest in their various States over the Non-inclusion of its members in the internship package of the healthcare system of the country and unjustifiable aberrant placement of her members on CONHESS 07 against the CONHESS 09 the University Graduates of other professions other than Nursing in the health sector of the country are placed and stressed that ‘Unified Scheme of Service’ which NANNM said was the problem of Nurses in Nigeria is no problem at all, but rather the problem of the profession is the unjustifiable exclusion of the profession from internship scheme as well as the wrong placement of University Graduates of Nursing on CONHESS 07 post-NYSC . nursingworldnigeria/2014/09/graduate-nurses-take-to-the-streets-in-ebonyi-protest-against-nannm-johesu/
