O JACOB, WHY HAST THOU FORSAKEN ME? by SAMUEL OLAYIWOLA Text: Isaiah 1:4 I woke up few days (in the morning) ago to hear a still, small voice whisper to my hears saying; O Jacob, why hast thou forsaken me? This question hit me to re-dedicating my life to the Lord. I searched within and without myself; where Ive gone wrong, and immediately corrected ALL. I shared this revelation with my mother. She told me that (the revelation) it was been referred to one of our immediate relative. Fine! I heard what she said but I just need to re-check myself was the thought within me. And this prompted me to go into the Word of God to get a divine interpretation for that divine revelation. I was on the air, looking for where to land, then I landed on Isaiah chapter 1 verse 4, which says; Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. God is not always happy with you when you commit one sin or the other. Jesus cried day by day as you commit those sins. It grieves the Holy Spirit whenever He finds you in sin. Adam and Eve was our first parent, they were identified as an evildoer as a result of their sin. And a sinful nation (Judah) was also identified as the seed of evildoers; so is what the world is, today. The world has forsaken the LORD, some are concerned about technology, some have dedicated their full time to worldly songs. Some to latest accessories or cloths in town and some to lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life (Isaiah 53:6). And we keep the LORD lonely, we dont have His time anymore. Not having the time for God is the cause of our suffering and backwardness. O Jacob, why hast thou forsaken me? The Lord have a lot of blessings in-stock for you. The Lord is asking you a question; ... why hast thou forsaken me? Your marriage, work, outings, business, relatives, etc shouldnt be the cause for forsaking God - your heavenly Father. You surly need a come-back to enjoy the promises and covenants of God for your life. Just as God had highlighted the possible restoration of Judah, if they are willing and obedient; your restoration will take place today, in Jesus Name. When you forsake God, you forsake your blessings (that comes from God). But I have a good news for you. As you are willing and obedient, your blessings shall be restored today, in Jesus Name! Lets take a vivid look at this 3 points of study; POINT 1 A SINFUL STATE DECLARES A BACKWARD STATE Isaiah 1:4, 2 Timothy 4:10, Jeremiah 7:24, Lamentations 1:8 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. This text is a very vivid picture of the state of Israel at this time of her backslidden and apostate life and conduct. This condition did not improve in spite of the ministry of many prophets and the demonstration of many miraculous acts of God on behalf of the nation. It rather grew worse until there was no remedy. God finally had to abandon the nation to total destruction and captivity (2 kings 24). The sinfulness of Israel brought about their backward state. In our world today, there are youths/people that are sinful - degenerate; depraved by nature; naturally bent in the wrong direction morally (Ephesians 2:1-3), some are laden with iniquity - they are perverse; wrung out of course and crooked (Matthew 23:4). Some are seed of evildoers - born sinful of sinful parents (Psalm 51:5). Of-course, we know that sin has been taking its effect right from the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. Some are corrupters - going into deeper depravity and corruption (Jeremiah 6:25). And some have totally forsaken God - they have backslided; puled back like a backsliding heifer (Hosea 4:16; 11:7). Some have provoked God to anger as a result of their sinful state; by scorn and blasphemy. They have all gone backward - becoming apostates; turning their backs on God. Even some who profess to be Christians are suffering. Why? They have forsaken the LORD in one aspect (field) or the other in their lives. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. (Jeremiah 7:24). The Word of God says this, NOT me! Despite the numerous gospel activities in every corner and center of the country, despite the numerous churches in the nation; there are still uncountable souls wallowing and dancing in sin; paving their ways into hell - even some so called Preachers! All these sinful state leads to hell, it brings you backward. When you sin, it takes you backward, NOT forward, and this makes you forsake your Creator. POINT 2 A SHAMEFUL STATE DECLARES A BARREN STATE Isaiah 1:4, Luke 15:14, Proverbs 3:35, Proverbs 13:5, Romans 6:21 A sin committed makes the devil laugh at you. It brings shame to you, and this will prevent you from becoming what God wants you to become in life. A sin found on you is like a nakedness found on you. Sin brings nakedness which also result into a shameful state. A shameful state that will cause you to be barren of blessings from God (see Genesis 3:6-24). Look at the life of the prodigal son in Luke 15:14. A son of a (rich) man, went away by self-will (sin), forsaking all the benefits he would have gotten from his father if he had waited. He wasted his life in sin, and began to be in want. Just pause for a while and imagine the son of a president begging in the corner of your street. This is a shameful state that brings in a barren situation! Sin brings in shame, and this shame will drive blessings and glory away from you. That is the devils tricky formation, and the end thereof is life eternal in hell (Romans 6:21-23). A barren person can forsake every thought of reproducing anymore. A sinner never comes to his senses until he realize the power of the One that created him. SHAME; S - Satans H - Harboring A - Actions M - Meant E - Evil (see Genesis 3) BARREN; B - Blankness A - Adequately R - Restored R - Re-affirming E - Emptiness in N - Nothing This will not be your portion, in Jesus Name! You need a come-back! POINT 3 A SAINTS STATE DECLARES A BOUNTIFUL STATE Isaiah 1:4-18, Psalm 13:6, Psalm 116:7, Psalm 142: 7, Proverbs 22:9, 2 Corinthians 9:6 Who is a saint? A saint is a person that has been redeemed by God; through the precious blood of Jesus that was shed on the Cross of Calvary for the remission of his sins. This connotes genuine heart-felt repentance from sins, making restitution and living a life of righteousness. This is Salvation! A Saint is a person that keeps Gods Word (Jude 3), grows spiritually (Ephesians 4:12), he avoids evil (Ephesians 5:3), he prays for others (Ephesians 6:18) and he ministers to other (Hebrews 6:10). God protects His children, and as you are willing to be obedient to the Word of God, He will protect you. What is God demanding from you? 1) Wash yourself. 2) Make yourself clean. 3) You put away your own evil doings. 4) You cease to do evil. 5) You learn to do well. All these explains that you should confess your sins before God; tell Him that you are sorry. Forsake all and He will forgive you. You must clean up your life and be willing to consecrate fully to put away all sin and do the will of God from the heart. When you do this; God will do His part of forgiving and making you a new creature in Christ (1John 1:7-9). Indeed and indeed, you can now be called a Saint! Abundantly shall you receive all your blessings. You have forsaken God before, now you have remembered Him by repenting and re-dedicating your life to Him. All those years that the locust, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm hath eaten, as a result of you forsaking God - Now that you have repented, the Lord says He will restore them to you. Your floors shall be full of wheat, and God will cause you and your land to overflow with milk and honey, wine and oil (Joel 2:24,25). Now that you are a Saint, the declaration of bountifulness (abundance) in prosperity, plenty, and blessings shall be your portion, in Jesus Name. Every barrenness in your life shall turn to fruitfulness. Showers of blessings wuill fall on yuou. That land of dryness in your luife shall be watered with fullness! (Joel 2:23). You will rejoice! God says He will not forsake you (Psalm 37:28), He will gather you (Psalm 50:5), He will keep you (1 Samuel 2:9). He says you are precious (Psalm 116:15), He will continue to intercede for you (Romans 8:27) and do you know what He also said? He said He will glorify you (2 Thessalonians 1:10). As you repent from your sins, as you remember the LORD today, your heavenly Father will remeber you for good. Every blessings and promises for your life will come to pass. In-fact, it has come to pass already! I love you but JESUS loves you more. God bless you! Give you life to Jesus today and let your life have a meaning! THE PRODIGAL CHILDS PRAYER. Christ Jesus, I admit that I am lost, and that I am a sinner. I repent now from all my sins and forsake them. I believe that God loves me and that You died for me and my sins. I believe that you rose from the dead and You are alive today. Please forgive me and come into my heart, and I accept You now as my personal LORD and Saviour.
