O wretched man that I am ! For I know that in me , that is, in my flesh , dwelleth no good thing , because I can will what is right , but I do - do not . Do not do the good I want , but the evil which I would not . Now if I do what I do not want no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me . So to say in this right that when I would do good , evil lies . For the inner man [ in me ] his delight is in the law of God. The members and I see another law at war with the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin which is in my members . O wretched man that I am ! Who will deliver me from the body, [ which leads to ] the death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord ! The apostle expresses the pain that his body is no place for good , because the whole body is subject to sin. Later, Paul will explain it thoroughly. The point is that the law will determine what is good and not giving him the strength needed to carry it out . Like the Apostle woke up fear, because more and more deeply realize their own limitations . However, it is expected that the law leans over him , take him by the hand and lead , will give him , that he may go in the direction of life. According to the Apostle of the law is good , holy, just , but at the same time it is powerless , there is no way to take us by the hand and lead to the realization of what just demands of us . Paul would like to do this , which is considered to be good, but do not know where to get the strength to carry this good. After all the work in two different opposing forces . One of the forces of good and wants to recognize them complete , and the second , which prevents it from filling to not meet and pushes towards the choice contradictory with recognized and coveted asset. Paul with great pain experienced this tragic reality. I feel unhappy man . I want to break free from the excruciating tension, and he can not. I do not want to do what makes him sinful members. Plagued by inner torment and trial of others. Yet others do not know how much can be a struggle which man carries within himself . When we do not feel torn in a situation where the Apostle says , it could mean that some part of us stopped fighting for . It seems that the first thing on which a person wants to be free , it is his own freedom. Sin is accompanied by the experience of every man. Where there is desire to act in freedom, there comes a pressure that leads to slavery , depriving us of free activities . Only the person who has a sense of sin , cries and asks for deliverance from it. Only Jesus gives man the power to overcome sinful tendencies .
