#O4Z PLATFORM FOR THE YOUTH Residents Denied The Right to Water Residents in Chitungwiza fear a high chance of a disease outbreak as they are being denied access to clean water with no explanations as to what is really happening. #O4Z managed to speak to the residents of Chitungwiza and the City Mayor “They should put notices to advice about the water disconnections”, said Blessing Chadanyika Others lamented the long hours that they are now spending on water queues at boreholes and wells. “We are wasting a lot of time in water queues and to be frank with you I am not happy with the situation”, said Raymond Dambakurima. The continued outbreak of water borne diseases such as typhoid, cholera and dysentery has exposed the Chitungwiza city council’s failure to provide clean water to residents. To compensate for the lack of clean water people in Chitungwiza are now forced to fetch water from Hunyani River. Giving voice to their disappointment the Chitungwiza residents respectively accuse the city fathers of failing to give priority to their basic right. The mayor of the city of Chitungwiza Philip Mutoti told #O4Z that it is one of his priorities to give clean water to the residents of Chitungwiza. “The issue of clean water is one of my priorities so I assure the people of Chitungwiza that as soon as possible we will deal with this issue. Mutoti said.
