OF THE INCIDENT AT SIGOMERE ON FRIDAY 6/09/13 I take with great exception the incident that occurred at Sigomere Market on the above date at/about 1730hrs. A police officer stalks two lovers with the intention of embarrassing them. The two, who decided to enjoy the pleasures of the flesh, privately, within the confinement of a secluded building, were, as I am reliably informed, also intoxicated. Out of intoxication, they might have erred in their choice of rendezvous, but man is to err. I must admit from the outset that decorum and ethics may be shy of defining their action and as such, it must be condemned. It is the product of the perverse society. The societal moral values would not allow anyone of sound intellect to applaud such an act. That is reserved for another forum. It is in the manner in which the officer in question handled the matter that I take offence. However irritating the infraction might have been, it was wrong to frog-march the two love-birds unclothed in broad day light. It must be noted that above all, the crime committed notwithstanding, we are all human beings who deserve treatment with dignity, grandeur and magnificence. The irreparable damage caused to both lovers on their persons, dignity and repute cannot be over-emphasized. There is no basis in law on which the two would be charged. The allegation that the man might have trespassed is not for the officer to unravel. He is not the aggressed in the matter. It is no wonder that they were both released unconditionally even before being booked at the station. It only leaves one to wonder the intention of the good officer. Such a matter that borders on morality ought to be handled with great civility. The message sent to the young children who were within the town is irretrievably made worse. The officer might have intended that the display would serve as a deterrent to those with similar intention, but that was myopic of him. The long term effect to the young children is beyond repair. It might boomerang on the same society he was ostensibly warning. It is for this reason that the officer’s act must be condemned in the strongest terms possible. It was barbaric, boorish, uncouth, illogical, specious, balderdash, archaic, heinous, odious, and abhorrent and to say the least, it should be measured with the contempt it deserves.
