OFFICIAL STATEMENT as of August 16, 2013 Having met with both parties today, we, the Student Councils, Organizations, and Publications (SOP) of Holy Angel University have collectively decided to give the Management and the Union equal and fair opportunities to air their sides, since we have identified conflicting stories and claims on both. With this, we opt to further study the situation by requesting all related documents from the National Conciliation and Mediation Board (NCMB) before we release a final stand. A separate committee comprising members of all the parties involved (the NCMB, Union, Management and especially, the students) will be formed to settle the conflict. However, we would like to reiterate that, as confirmed by the Management, the students have the complete right to support whichever side they choose, so as long as they do not violate any regulations set by the Student Manual. There are other alternatives to show that you are with either’s cause, such as by wearing same-colored shirts, by positively using social media, or by giving assistance through cash or food donation to the strikers. As the primary stakeholders of this institution, we should unite to immediately resolve this issue in the most peaceful manner possible. As your student leaders, it is our responsibility, not only to air your concerns and to be your voice, but also guarantee your welfare, at all times.
