OH DEAR!!! Stimpsons Python Found in school bag at Childcare Centre in Maroochydore today!!! Amongst 4 relocations I did today (Buderim, Flaxton, Maroochydore & Palmview opposite the Ettamogah Pub) was this Stimpsons Python found in a toddlers school bag. He found it when he went to get his sheets out for nap time. SURPRISE!!! Poor kid must have got a fright. I was called in to relocate him but when I got there I was very surprised to find this pretty Stimpsons python shown in the photo. They are not local to South East Queensland although they do look similar to the spotted python occasionally seen on the coast. I told the Manager of the facility that all the kids parents would need to be phoned as I felt it was an escaped pet that had hitched a ride to day care with some unsuspecting kid. I left with the snake but got a call from a slightly embarrassed mother not long after claiming the snake was hers. She hadnt even noticed he was missing. He had climbed out of his enclosure, into her kids bag, off to day care and into another then he jumped ship into another boys bag. Crazy stuff. Lucky she doesnt keep venomous snakes!!!! Anyway I dropped the snake home for her and straight into his enclosure. Hows that for door to door service. The little guy just wanted a day out. Its almost like it knew what it was doing. Lol. The other 3 species I got today was a common tree snake which managed to bite my finger when trying to get a photo upon release, a pretty carpet python scaring a girl in her garage at Buderim and the cool Major Skink from a house opposite the Ettamogah Pub which was mistaken for a snake when his tale was hanging out from under the washing machine. It was actually a really cool day, a few nice surprises for me and a bit of variety. The night is not over yet either. Enjoy the photos!! Call me if you need me for snake ID or relocations.
