OH NO!!! Ive fallen and I cant get up!! Ive tripped over another pile of these dart guns that are so easily available to F&W personnel. Oops theres another one!! Ouch! I might have stuck myself......Im getting drowsy so Id better hurry.....One more post here, (I hope) and Im dumping social media for a bit so I can enjoy my family. Our Law Enforcement officers are hired to enforce F&W laws. Biologists have access to tranquilizers that are kept under lock and key for a reason. They are a controlled substance that has to be measured out in exact amounts to match the animals weight, species, etc. Too much will kill it, not enough, and it will be unpredictable and escape. This is a process that takes time. More time than you can imagine. Dart guns arent kept behind the seat, and pulled out for random calls. Officers serve and protect. They were called to a scene near a highly populated area where children play nearby. It was getting dark. They had one option. Now lets say a police officer got a call for armed breaking and entering......well, would this officer call for tranquilizers, try to dart the guy, to see if hes naughty or nice, and wait for awhile and have a potentially armed criminal get away to POTENTIALLY commit harm to the public? I would trust this officer to make the right decision. You may say this is not a fair comparison, but if you think the claws and teeth on these predators are not a deadly weapon then I suggest you take a really close look. Are law enforcement officers capable of making mistakes? Heck yes! I think the picture that was released (not by our officers I might add) was a mistake. To the uninformed public, it seemed that it was a hunting situation. This was a picture to document the animal, not to be released to the public. In this day of instant access to technology, pictures are sent instantly to many different folks. Wow, Im starting to slur my words....Sorry for the sarcasm, but I think its too easy to jump on the keyboard and start pounding away without factoring reason in.....Our guys are out there while we are enjoying our holidays. They face folks in the middle of the night, many who are armed. They dont tranquilize these threats, they make informed decisions, which include serving and PROTECTING........Last night a guy posted on here that there were three hundred mountain lions in the world. VERY endangered. After I very politely asked him to dig a little deeper, to his credit, he apologized for wearing his feelings on his sleeve, and the officers made the right decision. Im not trying to be a know it all here. But someone needs to at least try to get good information out there. Be nice to each other and Merry Christmas to all.........and to all.......to all.....Im getting verrrrryyyyyyy sleeeeeeeeeeeeeepy............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
