OK, I am not trying to take over this group. I am new here and have some history to share that might be interesting. Question: Does anyone remember going to the Straw Hat Pizza Parlor in Oakland during the 1960s, enjoying the beer, pizza, and listening to the Oakland Banjo Band? I know that some SLH students did, because the came up to me an introduced them selves. The only name I do remember that did was Kathy Hyde. I started taking banjo lessons in the 11 grade and by 1963 I was playing in the band for several years to around 68 or 69. I continued to play after moving to Idaho, until arthritis took its toll. I also played the organ until my back could not take sitting on a bench anymore. I repaired and traded many organs over the years, and gave the last one away, to much pain.
