OK, this is too funny not to share. Today, I got a mysterious Christmas card from someone in Missouri whose name I didnt recognize. A real head-scratcher. A fellow Gourds fan I didnt remember? No, said John Rankin Smith (who would know), hed never heard of her. Someone in one of the online groups Im in? Possibly; Ive posted my address. But no, a Facebook search showed we had no mutual friends and were not in any of the same groups. So naturally, I sent her an IM asking who she was and apologizing for not remembering her. Flash forward: Im about to leave work tonight, and I tell my colleagues the story. Dude, thats your boss! Well, distant überboss is more like it. Shes the new president of the newspaper division. In my defense, Ive never laid eyes on the woman. But Ill get my chance -- when SHE VISITS THE OFFICE TOMORROW. How about a round of applause, just for me ...
