OK, today is the last day of ColoRectal Cancer Awareness month. 3 years ago I was diagnosed with rectal cancer during a screening colonoscopy. I was blessed beyond belief to end up with Stage Zero, as this was after being told that the tumor had penetrated the rectal wall. Through a miracle, the surgeon found that to not be true. So, here I am, 3 years later, one more colonoscopy done a year after surgery (clear), 3 PET scans, numerous physical exams as my tumor was so low, and a colonoscopy scheduled for next March. Once the diagnosis of cancer has been made, cancer is part of your life forever. Please, please get screened at least every 5 years. It honestly isnt that bad, just schedule for the first one in the morning! Ill always answer questions, but will get off my soapbox until next March!!!
