OLD PDP SHOULD GO AND EMBRACE MIMIKO WITH PEACE AND HARMONY- Kingsley Kuku Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger-Delta Affairs, Hon. Kingsley Kuku has urged the leadership of People Democratic Party, (PDP) in Ondo State to embrace peace and join hands with the new leader of the party and the governor of the state, Olusegun Mimiko to record full success for PDP in the coming election. Kuku, while answering questions from reporters yesterday noted that the sharing formula for elective positions as adopted by the 5-man committee that met with Governor Mimiko, got a good bargain. Kuku, is also the chairman, Presidential Amnesty said: Programme You will agree with me that by the PDP constitution which recognised the governor as the leader of the party in the state; governor Mimiko has assumed the leadership of the party in the state. The 5-man committee which I am a member was given the mandate to put up a strategy to reduce tension and destructive electoral processes in our party and we came up with a procedure and harmonised positions thus: Senate (new 2, old 1), House of Reps (new 6, old 3) and House of Assembly (new 17, old 9). Its not a bad bargain we have done. It better for Mr. President, its better for PDP and its better for all of us. For instance, before the governor came with his people from Labour Party; PDP has only one member in the State House of Assembly and House of Reps with no senator at all. But, with the bargain, the old PDP now will has one senator, three Reps member and nine members of state assembly; and in overall rating, PDP will have all the seats in both the National and State House of Assemblies which is a better bargain for all of us. On the just concluded congress of the party in the state, Kuku said that the pockets of crisis in some state chapters of the PDP are pointers to the fact that PDP is the party the people want. According to him, PDP is the only party that will not impose candidate on the electorate, stressing that we in the PDP, in the most acceptable manner can reach concensure in some cases. People have freedom of choice, people speak out and agitated, even against governors. Not that one person will just sit down in the comfort of his room and roll out names of candidates for his party. This is the only party acceptable to the people of this country and everybody is rushing to get the party ticket, and that is why there are pocket of protests in some place which is normal since were moving towards election period and everyone knows that with PDP ticket, victory is sure. That is why everybodys agitation towards securing the party ticket. On the just concluded congress of the party in Ondo state, Kuku said his ward congress was conducted in the most peaceful manner devoured of rancour and violence clash. In my place, I participated and chaired the congress meeting held at Egbe-Ibile Church, Arogbo town, last Saturday. It was very peaceful as over a thousand people were there, both from old and new people. In our congress, we passed a resolution that we no longer have new and old PDP. It is now generally known as PDP. Former LP chieftains like Apostle Agitan, F.G Yayu, Kennedy Perete were at the congress and we all sang PDP victory song together as one indivisible family. In my ward and all over Ese-Odo council area, no alternate delegate congress. It was a unified one between old and new; and that is why I am applying to every member of our party in the state to embrace peace because there is no bad peace, Kuku stated.
