OMD for Monday, August 12, 2013 A Giant Victory ... One summer on my grandparent’s farm, my Grandma Jessie kept finding dead chickens every morning when she went to gather eggs. She questioned us all and the only kid with an explanation was my brother. He told Grandma, “Probably a giant, chicken-killer killed them.” Well, Grandma decided to catch the ‘giant, chicken-killer’ by hiding behind the hen house the next morning. And who did she spy but my brother, perched on the woodpile with his slingshot, aiming at every chicken that clucked by until he landed a fatal blow upside one of their heads. Needless to say, he suffered a serious blow upside his backside. What giants are you facing today? Maybe it’s a bad habit or a health problem. It could be a wayward child or an abusive relationship. Scripture says ‘God is my rock and my fortress … in whom I take refuge.’ (2 Samuel 22:2) Use your Rock to fight your giants, my friend. He’ll be your strength and your fortress. He’ll help you land a blow of victory!
