OMG! What an interesting documentary about Liberia. Did this journalist actually say that these animals were used by virologists in the 70s for animal testing and bio research where they were infected with terrible viruses? Did he just say tested and sent into the wild? I knew that western scientists did research on primates in Africa but to just learn that in my country, theres a whole island of monkeys (Monkey Island) that were infected by American virologists makes me so disappointed that our past and present leaderships have kept this classified. You really mean that this ape testing actually went on in Liberia and that the offsprings of these animals are still around. How much did they take from the US to allow these animals to be infected; a few million dollars? Was it worth putting West Africa, Africa or the rest of the world at risk? And the worst part is that people are still making contacts with these animals. Ive heard of this island several times but to just learn that its actually a hub for some of the worst viruses modified by man and some that could potentially evolve in the future and that this Island still exists in Liberia where people are still caring for these animals, its just heartbreaking. Its a good thing that these animals cant swim but isnt there any other way that people can get food to them without coming into contact with or touching them!?!
